Vitamins and minerals are important parts of your diet. They prevent cancer and other health problems. However, these studies only include fruits and vegetables and not supplements. However, supplements offer a faster way to complete the recommended daily allowance of vitamins and minerals in your body. Here are some vitamins and minerals that you need and what supplements to get if ever you need one:

Calcium is essential to keep the bones healthy. They prevent osteoporosis which usually occurs during a woman’s menopausal stage. This is mostly found in dairy products like milk and cheese by these assignment writers. Supplements are really not needed when you are very fond of eating dairy products or kale or even sardines. However, when you are prone to kidney stones, you should avoid taking calcium supplements or you are over 70 years old. There have been findings linking heart attack occurrences in postmenopausal women due to taking supplements. If you are to take calcium supplements, make sure that you do not go more than 500mg.

Iron is essential so that the red blood cells can function well. Therefore, it prevents us from having anemia. The best sources of iron are organ meats especially liver. If you are anemic, it is advisable that you get some iron supplements. However, when you are not, just eat as much lean meat, seafood, nuts, and green leafy vegetables as you can. Another group who should take iron supplements are pregnant women and those who are menstruating. Too much iron in the body may cause the arteries to form crystals, doing more damage to the body.
