People Aren’t Dumb, They Simply Want Peace

December 28, 2010 in Commentary, Fun, Human Rights, Independent Voters?, Opinions, Sitting on my La-La, This and That, Uncategorized, women, words

As the years pass, it seems as if people feel the need for internal peace and quiet. The days of being sharp as a whip, and caring whether you come in first seem so tiring when you get older. This must be the reason that older America seems to find it easier to go with the current flow, without questioning the integrity of the flow.

It’s sad. I’ve finally realized this though, and it’s giving me some sort of peace to understand that the capacity for intellectual curiosity does not necessarily mean a lack of intellect, as much as an atrophied brain muscle. That might not be so bad if “la la land” is what one is ultimately seeking.

Curiosity Killed the Cat

December 19, 2010 in Opinions, This and That, Uncategorized, words

I can’t help it – I’m curious. I ask lots of questions because there’s lots I don’t know and/or don’t understand. For some reason, I need to know. Maybe it’s in my genes, or the way I was raised or where I was raised or some mysterious affliction that’s so rare no one has ever heard of it. Whatever the reason, it has always been with me, and I don’t think it’s going to leave me anytime soon.

That’s not all I am..add neurotic to the above. I have this urge to write about anything and everything, knowing that just about no one in the world cares what I think about, but I have to write it down anyway. And because I’m so curious, ask a lot of questions, do a lot of research, there’s a lot to write about.

I do believe my insatiable curiosity has been misinterpreted at times, and has also at times made people uncomfortable. I’m sorry. Even though I’m pretty good at throwing a bunch of words together in a grammatical way, I often do not throw them out in a way that seems soft, and makes people want to answer me. I hope to remedy this – it’ll probably take some time, but I’m sure going to try.

All of this has come up because I have asked a question about why Christians so vehemently support Israel. It just always seemed strange to me because Jews are non-Christian as well as counting a fair number of atheists among them. I could not make any sense out of it. So, I did some research, but couldn’t be sure of that my research was correct. You know what Buddha says: “believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.”

Well, nothing I’ve researched really made any sense to me, so I’ve asked, over and over. For the most part I did not get an answer, and I suspect I won’t ever. But finally someone did respond with a cursory “I like Jews,” and that, too, made no sense. I still can’t get my mind around all this.

Then there’s the Rapture. Well being the smart ass I am, I thought for sure the answer was in this supposed event. But after reading several internet sites about it, this makes even less sense to me.

Bottom line is that I do have a lot of questions, and it seems no one with any knowledge will discuss these things with me. So I have to continue to read and form my own conclusions.

It is painful being this curious. I’m serious. Growing up, I was told several times, “curiosity killed a cat,” “you like to stir things up,” and, “you should have been a Philadelphia lawyer.” I was repeatedly told all of this long before I even reached my teen years.

Now it seems I’m getting on people’s nerves; hence, all my ramblings will be coming from my web page blog. That’s why it’s called Peachy’s Ramblings & Musings.
