Blue Tongue Lady in a Red Coat

July 9, 2010 in Brunswick GA, Coastal Georgia, Fun, Golden Isles, Sitting on my La-La, So Belle Ya-Ya Sisterhood, This and That

I was duly warned not to move my blue tongue to a red state where the demons of conservatism would certainly eat me alive!

Well, I’m here to tell y’all something. I might slurp up the blueberry juice, and conservatives might lick the red off the candy, but it’s never no mind in the good ole’ south where southerners just don’t know anything about ungracious.

We’ve been in Brunswick for about 1 month and 1/2 now, and loving it more with each day…sure, I grew up here with many childhood memories and am loving the flash backs. But I love the people more. All I have met have warmly invited me into their lives, political leanings aside.

There was a time when I worried that people were defining themselves by their political views, but I can see now I had nothing to worry about.

So, from the Blue Tongue Lady, thank you, to all the really wonderful people down here…and lest I forget, thank you for the great food too. However, I think my growing bulk will probably remind me of how much I love southern food!

Brunswick Newsletter

May 7, 2010 in Brunswick GA, Coastal Georgia, Fun, Golden Isles, River, So Belle Ya-Ya Sisterhood, St. Simons Island GA, This and That, waiting for my Ya-Ya, Ya-Ya

As some of you may know, until February of this year I wrote a community newsletter for Yellow Spring, WV. It was called River Road Muses. All editions can be seen here: http://peachythings.com/newsletters

My newsletter was always provided free, even the printed copies.

I’m going to start up a community newsletter again, this time focusing on Brunswick and the Islands. It was named River Road Muses because I live on River Road; however, I am looking for a new name, hopefully still including the word “Muses.” As always, the newsletter will be free, but it will only be available on-line. The first edition is planned for July 1, 2010.

If anyone has a suggestion for a name, I’d like to hear it. I was thinking something along the lines of Tide River Muses, Marsh River…etc. But I’m not sure these would be technically correct.
