Intelligent but Misguided

July 4, 2010 in Opinions, This and That

Very recently, someone labeled me as the above, and I started thinking about the actual words. This seem to be an oxymoron. How could someone intelligent be guided or misguided by outside influences? Shouldn’t your own intelligence be your guide?

Then it occurred to me that the person who said this is strictly guided and manipulated, which is why her vocabulary could present this conflicting notion with such ease. The thing about being guided by strict sets of rules, mores’, religion, other people, is that it completely shuts down whatever active frontal lobe activity might be present. It’s almost like getting a lobotomy.

wiser. But an intelligent man needs only two thousand five hundred.
