Southern Gentlemen & Other Observations

I wonder what a true southern gentlman is. Does he have to be born in the south? What are the criteria for the “gentleman” part? I’ve got the whole southern belle thing down pretty good, and I’m impressed with the skills needed
Have you ever noticed that when going up or down stairs, ramps and the like that people stay on the right side if they’re going up and the left side if they’re going down?It just never occurred to me that there was some unwritten rule to this but there must be. The other day when I picked up my cousins at Dulles Airport, and was going “down” the ramp, all these fool people going up the ramp kept running into me as I was going down. Finally dawned on me that “I” was the one on the wrong side of the road. So since I had nothing elsde to do while waiting for the plane, I watched this practice in action over and over. It is an uwritten rule, isn’t it?
