Spiral Dynamics – Dr. Don Beck
April 24, 2010 in Opinions, Philosophy
Very recently my attention was drawn to the philosophy or theory of Spiral Dynamics. I’ve not yet studied this enough to know what to call it, but I have come away with a sense that the philosophy draws on the importance of solving the root of problems, as opposed to solving problems on face value. It appears that this philosophy takes into account the complexities of human existence to set new criteria for how to go about gaining some measure of success for the world as a whole and for the self.
“By exploring and describing the core intelligences and deep values that flow beneath what we believe and do, the model offers a profoundly incisive, dynamic perspective on complex matters such as:
- HOW people think about things (as opposed to “what” they think)
- WHY people make decisions in different ways
- WHY people respond to different motivators
- WHY and HOW values arise and spread
- The nature of CHANGE” (ref. Dr. Don Beck)
